Fat Loss Tips – Dark Chocolate

November 3rd, 2009

I am sure you have heard of antioxidants before.  Well, dark chocolate contains a lot of antioxidants (almost 8 times the number in a strawberry).  Antioxidants protect your body from what is called free radicals.  These free radicals attack your body and can cause damage to your heart and may even lead to cancer.  Healthy dark chocolate prevents this from happening.

A small amount of dark chocolate every day will help lower your blood pressure and lower your cholesterol (by up to 10%).  Some of the other benefits are that is tastes good.  I mean, who doesn’t love chocolate.  It also acts as an anti-depressant and contains caffeine to give you a little pick me up.

Choosing the right healthy dark chocolate may be a little difficult.  You want to stay away from any dark chocolate that has any fillers or other ingredients with it.  Stay away from milk chocolate or white chocolate as these do not have the same amount of cocoa in them as healthy dark chocolate.

Here is a quick fat loss diet tip for you:

If you have a sweet tooth, and find yourself craving sweets a lot, buy yourself a package of miniature dark chocolate pieces.  After dinner, eat 1 or 2 to calm the cravings.

Another tip is to keep a bag with you at your desk at work.  Eat one as a small snack to give you a little boost of energy, and to keep your metabolism going between meals.
